Mager Air bearings overcome sliding and rolling bearing constraints thanks to air bearing technology.
A thin and stiff layer of air is spread across the air bearings functional face through nozzles and micro-grooves and it is forced among the two surfaces. The slightest layer of air gap which is created among them, measures just a few thousandths of a millimeter thick, and it acts as the lubricant with a very low friction coefficient. Thanks to the removal of oil-based lubrication constraints, Mager flat air bearings can reach high speeds and accelerations with the utmost precision and top operational efficiencies.
Mager air bearings are available in a two lines, flat rectangular and round shape, they are both made out of aluminum matched with a hard anodizing treatment and are supplied with an adjustable screw pin, a locking ring nut and an anti-rotation pin (click here for Accessories for Air Bearings ).
The air gap between the air bearing and the main surface can be adaptable by the adjustable screw pin, and the locking ring nut fixes its positions avoiding dangerous movements. (click here for Air bearings Technology ).

ZERO FRICTION
The total absence of friction is of very important in measuring systems, for example in coordinate-measuring machines, where air bearings are used to ensure perfect sliding movement of carriages, in order to avoid contact with the guides: the result is measures totally free from errors. No friction is a top priority in research laboratories, when primary (standard) measurements must be obtained for sectors related to LENGHTS, ANGLES, FORCES AND HARDNESS.
NO-CONTACT
The total absence of contact allows the motion systems to work 7/7 and 24/24 with high-dynamic cycles, ensuring both zero maintenance and allowing high production level. Therefore, maintenance costs are drastically reduced and ordinary maintenance can be properly planned.
