TECHNOLOGY
Since 1979, Mager has top expertise in innovative and customized AIR BEARINGS MOTION SOLUTIONS embedded with DIRECT DRIVE TECHNOLOGY.
One might well ask …what is an air bearing?
An air bearing is a non-contact, frictionless bearing system that uses a thin layer of pressurized gas (mainly air) that works as a lubricant, creating a gas film between the surface and the substrate.
Air is released under pressure inside the part and, using nozzles and micro-grooves or porous material, it is spread among the surface and the substrate.
This slight layer of air gap which is created among them, measures just a few thousandths of a millimeter thick, and it acts as the lubricant with a very low friction coefficient.
The result is a motion without contact which implies no sip-stick phenomenon, no friction, no maintenance, ultra-precision, and clean motion with higher stiffness.
Our core business is to design and manufacture air bearings motion solutions, be either components and systems, motorized or not, perfect for high performances industrial machines.
Throughout all these years, we have developed a property
know-how
so that we can guarantee our customers to get the best
benefits
from air bearings technology.
Air bearings, compared to sliding and rolling bearings, provide countless and important advantages in many applications, to name some:
- Maximum smooth motion, no stick-slip, no wear of parts
- Maximum reliability, No maintenance
- Superior positioning precision
- Reliable precision results over time, thanks to absence of wear
- Low environment impact: air bearings do not use oil or grease lubricants, so they do not pollute. First choice in clean room applications
- Low noise pollution thanks to no contact between parts and thus no friction
- Maximum reliability with high temperature and radioactive sources
